Enhancing the seismic performance of high-rise buildings with lead rubber bearing isolators

Recent earthquakes have enforced the engineering community to design seismically more efficient buildings through energy dissipation systems. For this purpose, paper investigates seismic behavior of a high-rise building with series base isolation Firstly, 20-storey steel frame is selected as fixed-base building, and then equipped lead rubber bearings (LRBs). In modelling LRB, period alternatively varied 4, 4.5, 5 sec evaluate effectiveness isolator characteristic on performance base-isolated buildings. The responses evaluated time-history analyses are performed using natural ground motion records. analysis results compared demand parameters such storey displacement, relative roof drift, interstorey drift ratio, absolute acceleration, shear, moment, input energy, hysteretic curve.
